Biography

Born in 2006 in Istanbul. Started violin education at the age of 7 at the Istanbul University State Conservatory with Prof. Daniya Kainova on violin technique and repertory. At the age of 12 she was accepted into the Franz Liszt Academy School for Gifted Children while she was a half time student at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory Violin Department.

Duru won the auditions for the young soloist in 2017 for the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra and performed together with the orchestra conducted by Cem-i Can Deliorman, De Beriot no.9 concerto for violin at the Adnan Saygun Art Center. She gave a recital in  “Shining Stars” organized by Is Sanat at Milli Reasurans in 2017-2018.

In 2019 she won the award of “ Female Stars of Tomorrow “ organized by IKSV. She was invited to 2020 TEDX Youth Conference. In 2021 she participated in ENKA Stage Project under the supervision of Fazil Say. In 2022 she was selected as 1. Violinist for TUGFO (Turkish Youth Philarmonic Orchestra).

Duru Onhon, successfully representing our country in international competitions and other platforms, has won first prizes and special virtuoso prizes in Serbia Music Pedagogues(2015), 27. Barletta, Italy(2017), 2. Ilona Feher, Hungary(2018), 4. Danubia Talents(2019), Music Stars and Awards Internet (2020). She was selected as the student with highest success in her school in 2019 and performed together with Liszt Academy Orchestra Mozart’s D Major Violin Concerto at the 2019-2020 school’s opening concert at the Academy Auditorium. She won the National Concorde Talent award in Hungary in 2020-2021 which is given to gifted young musicians.

She participated in masterclasses held by Cihat Askin, Dora Schwarzberg, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Ani Schnarch, Alexander Markov, Yair Kless, Igor Tkatchuk, Mincho Minchev, Lutsia Ibraghimova and Anna Dzialak.

She is currently continuing her high school education at the Franz Liszt Music Academy, School for Gifted Children in Prof. Marta Abraham’s violin class.

Duru Onhon’s primary goal is to be an internationally recognized soloist and successfully represent her country.  Additionally, working towards synthesizing classical and Turkish music and pass the experiences to future generations are also among Duru’s goals.
